I have time…

Let’s start saying I’m in Italy since 7 months.

You came back from Rio de Janeiro, where you were covering an important role…

I worked as coordinator at IED, the European Institute of Design…

Why did you come back and why did you leave?

I left because they made me an interesting and difficult to refuse proposal… I had lived for 10 years in Rome… previously I
studied and taught at IED.

You worked also for important brands…

Yes… Sector, Morellato, Fendi… two years with Karl Lagerfeld leave the sign… then they offered me an important role in
Brazil… and I left… I spent 5 years there… I worked for a big fashion company, a kind of Gucci or Prada in Italy named ANIMALE, a very important company…

I go back to my previous question… Why did you come back?

I opened Kama in 2015…

Kama?

Kamawatch from chameleon… I made the first samples in 2016 and I found a distributor in Italy. I was there and I used
to follow the distribution…

Are we talking about watches?

Sure.

Why, after several years on jewels, you chose the watch?

Because no one nowadays uses the watch to look at the time… there is who cannot live without and who doesn’t wear it and
never looks at it… and then I had this idea of the changing color…

How did you have it?

I thought to use this heat-sensitive paint that makes these watches unique.

The particularity of these watches is that they change color.

It changes color when it reaches a 31 degrees temperature and from black it turns camouflage, for example, or bronze… and then it comes back to the original color when the temperature goes down…

What makes it change color?

As I was saying, it is a heat-sensitive paint… we have this printed camouflage basis, then it is painted with heat-sensitive
black, that turns transparent with heat and makes visible the underneath things.

They are unisex…

Different models, different dimensions… let’s say for all the tastes and the styles… the new models are done and ready
to go out… the very first ones were fluorescent…

But how did you have this idea?

Thinking about the Mattel cars I used when I was a child… I was 7 or 8 years old and I used to play with these cars that
changed color with warm or cold water… they had an incredible charm on me…

This is the reason why the Kamawatch change color like a chameleon…

Correct. The first models were fluorescent and smaller… we have been published on several magazines…

Are you the only one to use this patent for these watches?

Yes… We have a patent for Europe and USA…

You are the designer… but where do you produce?

All the design and communication parts are done in Andria. The production is in China. We use several distributors
around the world…

How has the market answered?

Very good…

How do you sell them?

In Italy we directly follow almost 10 agents. Through selected jewelers and some clothing stores… then Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Kuwait…

Online too?

Yes. We started in August with the online. To insert new models too…

From the first fluorescent models to the current ones there has been a big change in the look…

That’s true. Because we tried to capture the tastes of a wider clientele… a transversal target, from 16 to 40 years… that can be
easily used with different styles…

It is not easy to communicate these concepts…

It is necessary a dynamic communication, through videos, in order to show the color change…

What is the price range?

From 70 to 90 euros…

How has your city answered?

Very good. It showed great affection… it is where we sell more watches…

Are you alone in this adventure?

No, I have a partner… Raffaele Capoferro… he entered a year later with his great commercial experience, he worked as American president of big Italian brands. He is in charge of the commercial part and we are daily in contact.

What projects do you have for the future?

Without doubts to develop the foreign part…and to increase the models range… then I would like to realize some important
co-brandings… as we already did with Rolling Stone Italia.

What are the next goals?

I don’t plan long term projects… I plan the future to not more than 6 months… at the moment I would like to be present in 500 shops in Italy, compared to the 300 where we already are… In the while, we try to consolidate our position abroad and we
aim towards Dubai and USA…

Do you feel yourself more as a creative or an entrepreneur?

A creative, without doubts… Nowadays business is a real adventure…
